The Beginning

After a few days of avoiding the inevitable, i have finally written my first blog! I have never written one before so this is a new experience for me.

I had my welcome Skype on Saturday 25th January and was super nervous! Didn't know what to expect at all, fear of the unknown if I'm completely honest, didn't think i would understand anything. Turns out i had nothing to worry about, everyone was really lovely and it was nice to hear about other peoples journeys as the session included people from module 2 and 3. Went through the website in detail which was a massive relief as i was a little unsure on where to find everything.

Really looking forward to getting started now, feel a lot more settled after the welcome Skype. Wish me luck!

Monday 10th February Skype Discussion with a Module 1 Focus

Monday's skype discussion was really interesting from my point of view. The session started with us all introducing ourselves and describing our Professional Practice. One area that was touched upon was whether our practice defines us. Can you identify as a dancer if this is not necessarily you main source of income? The majority of the group felt that if you are a performer and you have other part-time jobs to help support yourself financially this does not take away your identity as a performer. From my point of view as a Dancer jobs can sometimes be few and far between, my part time work in other areas allows me to travel to London and participate in class to keep technique but to also pay the bills whilst waiting for another contract to come in. Those part-time jobs do not define me as a person as my first and foremost passion is dancing. A different point of view was then deliberated about; " Do you need to have more than just passion to identify as a dancer?" ...

My Dad!

My Dad! The past few months have pushed me to places i never thought i would go to! Unfortunately on the 13th May my Dad passed away, iv'e never felt pain like it, he was my best friend and the person that supported me through everything.  Having him here as i was writing my first module was amazing but not having him here for me to say "Dad i did it, i passed!" was heartbreaking. Now i begin to start module 2 without him and his support and quite frankly its killing me because i don't know how im going to do it without him! Id run down the stairs to him after every paragraph id written to see what he thought and knowing i can never do that again just brings me to tears, my god i miss you dad! I received my results for module 1 two weeks after the funeral and it was such a mixed bag of emotions; absolutely ecstatic that i had passed and within 2 minutes the tears came and was devastated that he wasn't here for me to tell him.
